"Skin", 2002

These first brooches I made for the Valentine-exhibition "Things We Do for Love" at Galleri Platina. Before making
them, I looked back and I realized that I have done a number of strange and mean things while being in love.
Things that I can't understand how I possible could do, things that even hurts when I think about them. My body
and skin turns stiff and I return to the scenes once again.

Making these brooches I used magnifying glasses as a symbolic tool for trying to hang on to some kind of truth
and for seeing as clearly as possible. Looking into a mirror also makes it obvious that I can't really escape from
what I have just seen. Using the color of my skin is a way for me to get as naked and true as possible.

   "- I just couldn't"
Silver, brass, paint, styrene and fabric
"- I really thought that that was what I saw"
Silver, brass, paint, styrene and glass-mirror.
"- I still see what I chosed not to see back then"
Silver, brass, paint, styrene, acrylic and glass-mirror.
"- I found it very hard to show"
   Silver, brass, paint and satin.

After the exhibition I continued to work with the "theme" and
I made some ear-rings as well.
